Ngunguru School
Ngunguru School is a progressive school 24kms North East of Whangarei, with an enviable beachside location, servicing the population base of the Tutukaka Coast. The school is a full state primary school, catering for approximately 280 students from years 0 to 8.
As part of the Ministry of Education’s Major Projects, Ngunguru school was marked for redevelopment and we were pleased to be able to work alongside Arco group and Mandeno design on this project.
The building is located just 50m from the sea and needed to be durable and low maintenance for the school. Precast panels were selected as the best permanent low maintenance solution for this, with structural steel elements on the top floor providing the strength for large, Modern Learning Environment (MLE) Classrooms below in a minimal footprint.
In addition to fabricating, supplying, and installing the structural steelwork for this new classroom block, we were also contracted to install shear plates attaching the ground beams to the precast panels at the base, as well as supplying level entry grates and stainless-steel handrails to the classrooms.
